I've been reading Bob Lefsetz' emails and letters for nearly 10 years. When he started it was a constant railing against the music industry's attempts to kill digital, then its begrudging, sluggish support. Occasionally he leaves me cold - it's pretty US-centric and the personal trials and tribulations of his car / home stereo / dental appointment don't interest me.
But he clearly has a love of music and that's good enough. Today he's published a classic rant about fame, the hard road taken by many artists and why the really good one's - like Steve Miller - really don't give a shit, and that's one of the reason's we love them.
